Instructions for upgrading to Cablecast 6.0 from Cablecast 5.3+

  • Systems running Cablecast 5.3+

Notes

  • In order to be eligible to upgrade to Cablecast 6.0 you must have an active software assurance contract. ¬†If you are not sure about the status of your software assurance, please contact our sales staff.

Prerequisites

If your system is running a version of Cablecast that is older that 5.3.0, and you are using Live Streaming -or- your system is running a version of Cablecast that is older than 5.2.0 and you are using VOD, your upgrade will also require reconfiguration of your live streaming on VOD hardware.  Please contact our support staff for more information.

You will need the following software installers in order to complete the upgrade:

  • Frontdoor 6.0.0.exe: This application will install Frontdoor 6.0
  • Cablecast 6.0.0.exe: This is the installer for the Cablecast software
  • Cablecast Video Overlay 6.0.0.exe (optional): This application will install the Cablecast Video Overlay software on an SX series video server.
  • Cablecast DSK 6.0.0.exe (optional): This application will install the Cablecast DSK software which controls 3rd party DSK devices.
  • Matrox DSX.utils for Cablecast 6.0.0+.zip: This zip file contains updated drivers for SX series video servers

If you are also using the Carousel digital signage application, you should update it to version 6.5.3 to ensure optimal compatibility with Cablecast 6.0

Installation

To perform the upgrade:

  1. From the Windows Desktop of each Server, click Start, then click Control Panel
  2. Click Programs and Features
  3. If this machine is the Cablecast Server and has Frontdoor installed
    1. Uninstall the existing Frontdoor software
  4. Uninstall the existing Cablecast software
  5. If this machine is also an SX series video server:
    1. Uninstall the existing Matrox DSX.utils software
    2. Uninstall the existing Cablecast Video Overlay software
    3. Extract the new Matrox DSX.utils driver zip file
    4. Double-click INSTALL.bat to start the installation program
    5. Click Next on all dialogs to accept the default options
    6. Reboot the machine if the Matrox DSX.utils setup application instructs you to do so.
  6. If this machine is the Cablecast Server
    1. Install Frontdoor 6.0 by double-clicking the installation application.
    2. Click Next to accept all default options
  7. Install Cablecast 6.0 by double-clicking the installation application
  8. Click Next to accept all default options
  9. If this machine is also an SX series video server:
    1. Install Cablecast Video Overlay 6.0 by double-clicking the installation application
    2. Click Next to accept all default options
