Channel Licenses for Cablecast Servers

We have gotten a number of requests for additional Carousel Channel

licenses as part of the unlimited free channel licenses now available with

Carousel Digital Signage Servers. Cablecast Video and Automation

Servers do not come with unlimited free channel licenses and were never

sold that way. The way that Carousel and Cablecast server software has

been sold and licensed are now completely different; Carousel servers are

meant to drive large digital signage networks, while Cablecast servers are

meant to drive on air bulletin boards along with a few digital signs in

lobbies, meeting rooms, council chambers, etc. With Carousel servers, the

costs of additional channel licenses are factored into the version of the

Carousel Server that a customer buys. As the capacity of the Carousel

Server software is increased, the price of the server software also

increases. In Cablecast systems, in order to keep the costs down, the cost

of additional channels and channel licenses is factored into the cost of the

individual players. If a customer wants to drive an additional Carousel

channel from a Cablecast server, they must purchase the corresponding

Cablecast version of the Carousel player, which includes a bundled

channel license and player license.

We have in the past offered, and will continue to offer, additional channel

licenses as needed for sandbox channels for your system, but they cannot

later be used as channel licenses to power carousel players. So if you are

looking for an additional channel license to set up and configure your next

channel layout, let us know and we will update your license.

On the other hand, if you would like to add a few digital signage players to

your Cablecast system, please contact sales@trms.com and they will talk

to you about the CBL-CG250 digital signage players that are meant to

work with a Cablecast server.

Lastly, the way the economics work out, if you are looking to deploy 5 or

more digital signage players, you should probably look into to purchasing a

separate Carousel server and Carousel players from our digital signage

solutions team.
