Cablecast does not work on older devices running iOS 8

Applies to

  • Cablecast 5.2.0+

Symptoms

  • Screens in Cablecast web interface will fail to load using Safari on older iOS devices.

Cause

A bug in mobile Safari (https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138038) causes JavaScript applications, like Cablecast, to have an unrecoverable error. This bug only affects non-64bit iOS devices running iOS 8. 

Workaround

  1. Use Google's Chrome browser on iOS.

Additional Information

PendingThis software behavior has been identified as bug.  It has been assigned case number 8778.

Fixed This bug has been fixed internally as is awaiting release.

Released A fix for this bug has been released in Cablecast 5.4.4, on June 5 2015.
